Well here we have interview and some live music from Grace Buford/Cylindrian Rutabaga. She is one of the better singer-songwriters working hard in SL to help further her music career there and in RL while home-schooling her 2 children. Where does this gal find her energy and drive?

2 of my oddest (and dearest friends) in SL got married today in observance of their 6 month anniversary. Yes it’s my first wedding in SL in any color (trash or no trash). It was fun and I could make obnoxious comments(while wearing my graffiti-covered army pants) because they were appropriate to the street punk theme and crowd that was assembled. It was the most unpretentious wedding I ever attended and I’m happy for those two mutants because they make a great couple and it’s obvious they love each other, even though they didn’t boor us with syrupy details of their affection for one another. Congrats Nero and Lil! Good luck with Homicide Designs too.

What’s the connection you say? Well there are these real life thingies and peeps. I am in Taiwan and it’s Chinese New Year-year of the pig to be specific. My year and Cylindrian’s, Melvin Took’s, Charles Coleman’s, Haroldthe Burrel’s and maybe even yours.
Happy New Year to all!

No-not talking about the bud here of Dr. Dre fame. This Chronic of the Skronsky variety. I recently caught Chronic Skronsky at Mystery Isle’s Central Park venue. He had come highly touted to me by music friends like Harrythe B. I must say I was impressed with both his sound(crystal clear) and song choices(his own and covers). I detected a Canadian accent(funny that a Brooklyn expat like me would pick that up) while he spoke in betwen songs. Have to say old Chronic has a fairly distinctive voice in a sea of less distinctive ones.
Now let’s keep that puck out of the goal….

Spin Martin
Well finally caught Redzone gig-woot! They were dark and a little heavy(love that stuff), not an acoustic guitar in earshot. The theramin, assorted oscillators, guitar and violin were all vibrating and buzzing though. Nice cyberpunky sim and crowd. Kudos Cabaret Red and theramin guy.
Spin Martin-resident Twitter-spamvangelist will appear on future episode of SL Notes podcast to play dj and give us his thoughts on SL and SL live musics future, hmmm.

Min Fairweather left me an IM saying she’d like to shoot some photos in our SL Notes studio. I then found out she had exhibit going on at Pecha Kucha . Nice stuff-good work Min.

This from my buddy Dolmere Talamasca:
Hi Chill, you asked for some pics and details on our venue.
The Shelter in Swinside is an additional location for The Shelter. Like the original Shelter, The Shelter in Swinside is a not for profit new resident friendly environment. Once there you will find a table full of freebies, line dancing, a dock on the water to hangout at, a patio for gaming, a patio for Second Life Trivia and of course our sky stage. We have a series of games and other events at both locations throughout the week from trivia to building contests to formal dance parties and even live music. We don’t charge admission
for any of our events and participation is open to current and new residents alike.
Travis Lambert runs The Shelter and Coal Nelson is the facilities manager for the Swinside location. I am the booking agent for live music. We run a two hour show with an opening act and a headliner every Thursday starting at 5:30PM SLT.
Upcoming shows are:
Mel Cheeky opening for Charles Coleman on the 15th of February
Capos Calderwood opening for Jaycatt Nico and Frogg Marlowe
on the 21st of February
Tukso Okey opening for JueL Resistance on the 1st of March
Folks can contact me(Dolmere Talamasca) via IM in-world for booking. The Shelter pays
tier and monthly game prize costs from donations - there are blue
pillar shaped donation jars littered around both locations.
