pic of Capos Calderwood at Hummingbird Cafe by Rich Desoto
Well lately the Metaverse music community has had several meet-ups going on in RL resulting mashups of RL?SL musical performance. Last weekend we had an all day jam session sing/play/drink/laugh/love-fert in Indianapolis-at DimiVan Ludwig’s studio to be precise. His friend there were Melvin Took, Ed Lowell, Rich Desoto and some RL musician friends. They shared their fun and music via stream to Dimi’s Hummingbird Cafe at Menorca. It was a blast-the tunes and genre bending/switching were great. I think most of the SL musicians there hadn’t met in RL before and it was a joy to listen to.
Similarly, Cylindrian Rutabaga-SL’s favorite singing tuber(Goober Queen-and tuber and goober do rhyme) visited her talented buddy Juel Resistance in MN. They too gave a series of performances on the same bill individually and together. The last one “together” was at Pegleg’s. They will be meeting up with Etherian Kamaboko, Charles Coleman, and CharlesEBristol Xi in NC for some more SL/RL mashups.
Almost forgot-Melvin Took, Frogg Marlowe, Capos Calderwood and others will be meeting up in Texas’ Music City-Austin. Great stuff.
Musician friends/music venue owners don’t forget to come to seminar this Sat Feb 3rd 1PM SLT at Menorca , and for everyone make sure to come to hear Melvin Took, Capos Calderwood and Matthew Perreault giving a “T-for-Texas” at the U-Turn Cafe in Dirty. FYI-Dirty is also home to SLBuzz.com and to SL Podcast.
Ah yes almost forgot-yesterday was Cylindrian’s Rez day(SL birthdy) which a number of us celebrated at party thrown by Cate Baker.

Find about this guy from CC’s blog and he was referred to him via Eric Rice so you know the guy must have something to say and interesting way to say it. He is also an African-American active in SL with a cultural bent and sensitivities(better yet). Clarence’s blog is really cool and I like this one post on SL music and desire for more hiphop presence in the metaverse. Man I loved watching Ali when I was a kid, for his artistic boxing, poetry, love of life, freedom of expression; so yes, when I saw Clarence’s choice of icon for his blog I was already halfway in his choir.

(Flameheart Sol, Schuyler Kent, and Chill Moksung from L-R)
Was invited by to take tour of the brand new music venue: House of Flames today. They’ll have their grand opening on 1/27 7PM SLT with a great lineup of live musicians ad DJ’s(JueL Resistance,Luigi DiPrima,Ricardo Sprocket,Cylindrian Rutabaga,Foxyflwr Cure,JueL Resistance & Ricardo Sprocket,Event MC: Cybster DJ). The place is really well designed and the roof-top stage allows for great views of the surrounding coast and the night sky. The bar is very well stocked and they have numerous imported beers on tap. You can also enjoy the live music stream from their pool/relaxation area next door. They seem pretty serious about providing a good musical experience-why not drop by and see for yourselves.
Congratulations and happy travels to Cylindrian Rutabaga visiting Juel Resistance im MN, and Melvin Took visiting DimiVan Ludwig in IN.

Well we know that desperado with his back to the wall in true gunslinger fashion is me. Where is that Cleon Goff/CC Chapman feller? Why that music/indie musician loving dirty polecat is busy scrambling his Accident Hash and playing with Crayons and stuff. So we decided to work a little of our synergy/community mojo. SL Notes will be arranging a series of shows at the SL U-Turn Cafe which Cleon/CC will help promote and will play podsafe songs by these SL musicians on his podcast(s). First one coming up on Feb. 3rd stay tuned for details. Oh Cleon/CC will also be speaking with me at SL Musician Seminar on why SL musicians should consider making music available to podcasters and how.

Yes I had heard about this joint before and yes it’s barely bigger than a postage stamp or better yet a beer coaster. Also, Cylindrabaga (also known as Cylindrian Rutabaga, Goober Queen and in a land far away: Grace Buford) happened to be playing there at the 2nd year anniversary (Kudos Elex and crew) of this tiny but hip bar. Cyl is known to hang there in her off time to enjoy a virtual cup of java and banter with the many bartenders that take up at least a third of this cozy place.
What’s that you say, oh yes she sounded great, especially doing that beautiful song she wrote about her good friend and fellow SLÂ diva-Juel Resistance. Didn’t get to hear Juel (also at Elbow Room that day) but did fly her in for some of Dalien Talbot’s beautiful Russian ballads over at the Dragon Claw Bistro. So nice to see SL music of more and more varieties and languages better reflecting the cultural diversity of it’s members.
